Scott Jensen
Vice President & Co-Owner, Guindon Moving & Storage
The moving and storage business has been in my blood before I was even a teenager. Growing up in a family business (my dad and mom purchased the company in 1981), I can remember (attempting) to help our crews carry items off the trucks into our 45,000 sq ft before I was even in middle school. Honestly, I probably got in the way more than I helped, but it started to build the foundation of whom I am today. Since that time I have participated in moving three entire hospitals, schools, and international moves, not to mention basically every type of civilian relocation you can imagine. There have been many late nights and early mornings, but it truly has been a privilege to assist so many people and families.
During this journey, I have also seen a significant transition in regard to our company. Decades ago Guindon Moving relied heavily on the DOD business from KI Sawyer AFB. When this closed in 1995, Guindon Moving started to transition to more of a commercial, international and residential moving and storage company. In recent years, we have decided to put our years of experience in the storage business to develop a number of quality storage options for our customers.
Guindon Moving now offers professional container storage, and various sizes of self-storage, along with our traditional warehouse storage. Our 2 locations (Escanaba and Negaunee, MI ) encompass about 55,000 square feet in addition to over 200 storage units we have to offer our customers.
One additional way our companies have branched out is thru our sister companies; the Ashley Homestores of Marquette and Escanaba. Our family is proud to be a part of the Ashley Homestore group which we feel offers the best value for your money in the industry. Ashley Furniture is simply one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the world, and to be a part of that group has been a great decision for our family. These companies are managed by my sister, Kelly Jensen Bjork, along with a fantastic staff of people all around her.
One last point is that any successful company always has great people behind it. Guindon Moving and our Ashley Homestores completely fall into this category and are blessed to have such an amazing staff. Our companies have people that have been with us for 10, 20, 30, and even 40 years. This type of dedicated and experienced staff has helped us become the businesses we are today.
